Whether direct marketing is just an economic option for you or a legal requirement: if you have your electricity traded on the exchange via direct marketing, you are obliged under the EEG as a plant operator to ensure that your assets can be controlled remotely. The reason: remote controllability allows your direct marketer to monitor the assets remotely, to switch off their feed-in power or control it according to demand, and thus to align plant operation precisely with market requirements. This workflow is closely linked to establishing remote controllability from a regulatory perspective: whoever establishes remote controllability must provide proof of it, starting from day one of direct marketing. Under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), this proof is mandatory in order to participate in the power market via direct marketing without sanctions. You receive this proof automatically from Amperecloud Platform, your Virtual Power Plant, as part of establishing remote controllability. Because when things are closely linked in regulation, we also link them technologically as an innovation leader. You receive the formal proof of remote controllability in the final step from your direct marketer.

Automated proof of remote controllability by Amperecloud Platform
For your proof of remote controllability, Amperecloud Platform automatically runs a preliminary test – a kind of pre-compliance check – to verify the connection between your direct marketer and your renewable energy asset, and whether it is actually producing power at that moment. It is then ramped down to 0% and subsequently ramped up again. If everything works flawlessly, you automatically receive the corresponding proof. On this basis, you contact your direct marketer, who then only needs to provide formal confirmation of remote controllability. If the preliminary test fails, the issue is identified in an error report. Unlike our competitors, we do not leave you alone with this, but support you in resolving the problem and then restart the preliminary test. Our experience shows that this is rarely necessary.
Formal proof of remote controllability by the direct marketer
Your direct marketer confirms proof of remote controllability with a formal declaration of remote controllability, which they submit to the distribution grid operator. Under § 10 b EEG, your direct marketer is obliged to provide this declaration. Before issuing it, they usually perform a functional test via Amperecloud Platform, during which the plant is shut down and then restarted. This allows your direct marketer to ensure that the adjustment of the feed-in power works within the required time. It is purely a formal step, because we have already provided you with automated proof in advance that remote controllability is working.

Simple change of direct marketer via central meta layer and routing
Normally, each plant operator receives their own VPN certificate from their direct marketer. This VPN certificate must be installed directly on the plant so that an authenticated and therefore secure, individual connection can be established between the direct marketer and the plant operator. Amperecloud Platform, however, works with a central meta layer that abstracts this connection and can therefore switch it over. This means: the individual plant connections of all plant operators – that is, the VPN certificates on the plants – are consolidated in a central meta layer in Amperecloud Platform.
